I am Charde Redd, born and raised out of Birmingham, Al! Growing up I have always felt like a city girl but a southern belle at heart! I started off my creativity at a young age by first writing poetry, and from there I knew I had a creative side in me! I always enjoyed creating content and being myself and standing out! As a product of a millennial I grew up with a computer in my hand at a young age; meaning I was always surrounded by those creating content, YouTube really
jumped off when I was growing up with new age artist and comedians so therefore I feel like I’ve always been around creativity! So at a young age I never saw myself becoming rich off a hobby of making content, just something as a hobby! Then I realized I can stand out from others with my voice; with my mindset, because I’ve always been someone who was very open minded about life! I truly feel as if everyone has a unique and beautiful story and how someone else gets to one place and life you may get to another! So that means everyone also has a unique conversation and view on things , and as a woman who loves to meet new people and hold good conversation I got into Podcasting. I just knew I could do this as much as I listened to others! But it inspired me to be different from everyone else, I love to make my own; then behold Black Women Diaries Podcast finally came about in March 2020! The only person I have to blame for procrastinating is myself, but I’m glad I finally started and now I can’t stop and I won’t stop.
What are you doing in your craft that impacts your community?
I want my craft to be another voice from Birmingham, Al & stand out! I want my city to be more than the negativity that it sometimes may bring! I want to make it out of Birmingham, but I don’t want to forget where I came from! I want my voice to be heard!
What advice would you give to someone looking to follow your path in the industry?
Just START! Do not hold yourself back from something you didn’t know could really and truly be a passion for you! Don’t make excuses!
